Maligano Jasper is a brecciated jasper variety, known for its unique patterns and grounding, protective energy. It's a recent discovery, found only in Sulawesi, Indonesia, formed in areas with volcanic hot springs. Geological Properties:
  • Formation: Maligano Jasper forms in volcanic regions, particularly areas with hot springs, where existing rocks are fractured, and mineral-rich fluids deposit silica and other minerals, creating its brecciated texture.
  • Appearance: It's characterized by brecciated patterns, contrasting colors (blue, grey, yellow, red, orange, beige), and sometimes the presence of dendrites (tree-like formations). 
  • Composition: Like other jaspers, it's composed of chalcedony (a form of silica), often with trace amounts of other minerals that contribute to its color. 
  • Hardness: Jasper, including Maligano Jasper, typically has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, making it durable for jewelry and other applications.
