Hackmanite is a variety of sodalite, a feldspathoid mineral, known for its unique color-changing properties, particularly its tenebrescence, where it darkens in color when exposed to UV light. Metaphysically, it is believed to promote spiritual growth, intuition, and emotional healing.

  • Composition: Hackmanite is a sodium aluminum silicate with varying amounts of calcium, potassium, and chlorine.
  • Color: Typically pale violet or pink, but can also be white, yellow, or green.

  • Fluorescence: Some hackmanite specimens also exhibit fluorescence, glowing under specific UV wavelengths.
  • Occurrence: Found in various locations, including Greenland, Afghanistan, and Canada, often associated with igneous rocks like nepheline syenite.
  • Transparency: Can range from translucent to opaque, with some specimens being gem-quality.
