Coquimbite, a hydrated iron(III) sulfate, is both a mineral with geological significance and is sometimes used in metaphysical practices. Geologically, it's formed through the oxidation of iron-bearing minerals in the presence of sulfates and water, often in arid environments. Geological Properties:

  • Appearance: Typically purple or white, but can also be yellowish, brownish, bluish, or greenish-white. 
  • Hardness: 2.5 on the Mohs scale.
  • Solubility: Soluble in water.
  • Luster: Sub-vitreous, resinous, waxy, or greasy.
  • Locality: Can be found in various locations, including Chile, from which it gets its name.
