  • K2 Gneiss: The mountains of K2 are composed of metamorphic rocks called K2 Gneiss, which include orthogneiss and biotite-rich paragneiss. 
  • Azurite Formation: Azurite is believed to have crystallized within the granite grains after the granite itself formed. 
  • Scorzalite and Other Possibilities: Some debate the exact nature of the blue inclusions, with suggestions of scorzalite or even natural impregnation as alternatives to azurite.
