Diana Moon Goddess Statue

DIMENSION : 5.5" X 2.25" X 7.5"

MATERIALS: COLD CAST RESIN

DESCRIPTION: HAND PAINTED

Diana the Roman Goddess of the hunt, wilderness, and chastity. (Her Greek equivalent is Artemis.) She is the protector of young girls and was believed to have assisted in delivering her twin brother Apollo right after she was born, leading her to become the god of midwifery.

On Chastity:

Because virginity is an important aspect of her persona, Diana has sworn to always be a virgin and never marry. The ancient Greco-Roman culture deemed virginity as a prerequisite to marriage and married women belonged to their husbands; thus, Diana’s virginity symbolizes her power and independence.  Stories entail her and her companions encountering men who try to seduce them and later attempt to rape Diana. She is a patron to those healing sexual trauma as her bow delivers swift justice to those who walk an immoral path.

Diana – Roman Goddess of the Moon, the Hunt, and Sovereignty

CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE:

  • Diana is the Roman goddess of the hunt, wild animals, the moon, and sacred feminine independence—often equated with the Greek goddess Artemis. As a virgin goddess and protector of women, she was revered for her autonomy, fierce strength, and deep connection to nature.

  • Worshipped in forest sanctuaries, especially at Lake Nemi (her sacred grove), Diana was also seen as a lunar deity and guardian of childbirth, transitions, and the untamed soul.

  • Over time, she became associated with witchcraft and female mysticism, particularly through her role in Roman and later Italian folk magic traditions like Stregheria.
