Bastet is the Egyptian cat goddess of domesticity, fertility, and childbirth. She is the protector of women and children. All cats in Egypt were sacred because of their connection to her. Some mummified cats have even been found in tombs of pharaohs and nobles. She is the daughter of Ra, the sun god, and is also sometimes called The Lady of Perfume, as she is known to prefer perfume oils as offerings.
