Egyptian Pantheon: Isis

by Tabitha Kosicki October 05, 2025 2 min read

Isis (pronounced EYE-sis), known in ancient Egypt as Aset or Eset, is one of the most powerful and beloved goddesses of the Egyptian pantheon. She is the Great Mother, Mistress of Magic, and Queen of Heaven, embodying love, devotion, healing, and resurrection.

A goddess of both compassion and power, Isis bridges the mortal and divine realms. Through her mastery of sacred words and magical rites, she resurrected her beloved husband Osiris after his dismemberment, conceiving their son Horus—who would go on to rule as the divine king. Her myth symbolizes rebirth, eternal love, and the transformative strength of devotion.

Isis is the divine archetype of the High Priestess and healer, blending wisdom with fierce maternal protection. She is often depicted with wings outstretched, offering shelter and blessing to those who seek her aid.

  • Animals: Kite (falcon), cow, cobra, scorpion

  • Plants/Herbs: Lotus, papyrus, myrrh, frankincense, rose, cinnamon

Crystals & Stones

Crystals resonant with Isis’ magic, healing, and lunar energy:

  • Lapis Lazuli – truth, intuition, priestess wisdom

  • Turquoise – protection, communication, sacred healing

  • Moonstone – feminine power, cycles, intuition

  • Carnelian – vitality, resurrection, creative life force

  • Rose Quartz – unconditional love, nurturing, compassion

  • Selenite – purity, connection to the divine, angelic realms

  • Azurite and Malachite - Isis was considered the daughter of the earth god Geb and the sky goddess Nut. This cosmic lineage is represented by azurite and its cousin, malachite. Azurite's deep blue represents the sky and heavenly wisdom, while malachite's green symbolizes the earth.

Rituals & Offerings

  • Full Moon Rites: Honor Isis beneath the moon, reflecting her connection to lunar and maternal cycles.

  • Healing Rituals: Invoke her over water, oils, or herbs to bless and charge them with restorative power.

  • Resurrection & Renewal: Call upon her in times of grief, loss, or transformation—she guides souls through shadow into light.

  • Offerings: Fresh water (symbol of the Nile), milk, honey, lotus flowers, myrrh incense, candles, sacred music, or written prayers.

  • Devotional Acts: Speak her name aloud for protection and guidance. As she spoke magic into existence through sacred speech (the first spellwork), her presence is invoked through the breath of sacred words.

Metaphysical Work with Isis
