Celtic Pantheon: Arianrhod

by Tabitha Kosicki October 03, 2025 2 min read

Arianrhod (pronounced AH-ree-an-rod) is a powerful figure in Welsh mythology, known as the Lady of the Silver Wheel, often linked with the moon, stars, fate, and sovereignty. Her name translates to “Silver Wheel,” symbolizing the cosmic wheel of time, destiny, and rebirth.

She appears in the Mabinogion, where her story intertwines with themes of initiation, challenge, and the weaving of destiny. She is both a mother and an initiatrix, testing heroes who seek legitimacy and identity. Arianrhod rules over transitions, thresholds, and mysteries of womanhood, and is a weaver of fate itself.
